One of the things that I always wanted to do was to learn how to touch type. My goal wasn’t getting super fast at typing, just capable.

By now, I don’t even remember how long it took nor the exact process I did, but now I can do it. Yeah, I’m not perfect at it; I make mistakes all the time. But I’m also decent at quickly correcting, either by the classic backspace or just Control + backspace to delete the whole word if I made the mistake too far back (more than three or four letters from where my cursor currently is).

There are some everyday English sentences that make me turn my head like a puppy trying to figure out what their owner is saying to them. Right now I can think of two examples of this:

“It broke my mental”
“I decided to embrace my masculine”

Aren’t these two examples missing something? My brain always feels like I’ve been sent an incomplete message with this type of sentences. I might be wrong but this is how I feel.

I was having issues running the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility in my Windows 11 System. It installed fine but when trying to launch it I got a message saying that it was unable to run because there was another application or process monitoring the CPU. After several tries across different days I decided to dig deeper using Perplexity.ai

I didn’t get an immediate solution but after the first inquiry I got clues of what was wrong so I’m writing this guide to help other users that may be running into the same issue under similar system conditions.

I just burned some high quality Japanese incense that I bought 24 years ago! Well, of course my dad bought it for me. I just found it and thought that the reason it has lasted me so much years is that I forget that it’s there. I’m not like an incense person. Have bought it before. Mostly the cheap Indian one. For the past several years I’ve been using a Huawei P10 phone. I’m not really enthusiastic that it is made and controlled by a Chinese company, but what isn’t at the end. I’m currently looking for a replacement since this device hasn’t had any software upgrades since 2020 and I can’t install or update many apps anymore.

I also don’t use my phone much, I find that mobile phones degrade our humanity. they turn you into a slave of the device, instead of empowering you to be a better person they enslave your senses turning most people into zombies. I try to only use it as little as I need. My current use cases for my phone are: work communication with my team and the customers, taking pictures of the shippments, map navigation, listening to music or audiobooks, checking the weather and ordering Ubers. With these in consideration it sucks that most of the recently launched phones don’t have a headphone jack anymore. Like it really fucking sucks.

Every day that passes I agree more with the idea that people with slower reaction times have more fun in Apex Legends. The time that it takes to kill someone with a mouse and a keyboard is too high and most of the times if you don’t hit a perfect spray on the opponent someone else will have to shoot at him to down them. If your reaction times are faster than your team-mate’s you are gonna be the master kill assistant because you won’t get any of those kills, you will make just a ton of damage.

So there was a little bug in my blog, it didn’t really affected me much but I knew about it. It took me some weeks to care enough for me to report it in a Github issue, then it stayed in the open issue queue for 3 weeks, I then decided I would fix it myself, it took me some days to decide and implement the fix. Took some other days for the pull request to be accepted and merged. In between this time I abandoned my blog and writing all together. Congratulations to me, I got paralyzed by my perfectionist stupidity.

As I’m getting older I get forcefully conscious of the accessibility aspects of UX. So… I changed the font to the Lexend family and wow. I can see everything better now. This theme’s default font is probably lacking weight. I have to query Google fonts to keep the site lightwight and snappy which doesn’t feel totally right but the other option is greatly increasing the payload and thus the loading times and thus getting penalized … by Google metrics. I was asked once why I don’t mix the music I listen to on my listening sessions like a Dj set so my streams are more entertaining. The reason is that I don’t want to mess with the transients and the pitch of the track. You change the speed and everything changes in the song. It becomes a different beast. I’ve noticed that when my ADHD is in a really rough stage my finger tapping or finger drumming while trying to go along the music will be really off. I usually drink coffee to stimulate my brain and compensate the effects of this condition. When properly caffeinated my finger drumming will be tighter, but of course it doesn’t make me a good drummer.

So the inspiration for this soup comes from a restauran in the southern Mexico City county of Tlalpan that goes by the name Mongo. They sell wok and teppanyaki cooked bowls with an Asian touch. In the stir fried bowls they use clam sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and so.

But they are also famous for having a soup just called Mongo soup. I thin it used to be free but like everything nice, it didn’t last long enough. The soup is fresh but very thick. From what I gathered it’s made from some kind of broth, shitake mushrooms and egg that has been quickly poached and stirred in the boiling broth.

Finally, I’ve had enough and decided to get rid of Git, GitHub, and continuous integration to manually upload this site, generating the build from my local machines. When you learn to use Hugo, everywhere you look, you’re shown how to do a deployment with GitHub, but I think all of that is too much for the needs of most people and ends up increasing the technical debt that you constantly have to carry when maintaining the site.

My most recent hobby project has been installing Ubuntu 23.04 to my Macbook Pro from late 2011 which I use just as a side device. It’s been using Pop!_OS that honestly had been working great but I wanted to upgrade the SSD for a faster and bigger one.

I popped in a Samsung 850 Evo in there with around 500 GB. but I kept the previous ssd inside in a sata2 port as a backup system. The bootloader in that system broke when I re-installed Grub on Ubuntu but it seems it’s fixable.

How to Use Hugo on Android

You can update your Hugo blog from your Android mobile phone by installing the Termux app and then installing Hugo using the command pkg install hugo. Once installed, you can create your site directory using hugo new site <sitename> and then navigate to it using cd <sitename>. You can then use Git to initialize your site with git init and add a theme with git submodule add <hugo-git-theme-link> themes/<theme-name>. After that, you can update your blog using Git commands.

It takes too much of a cut of those few “successful” streamers while pushing their decency and mental health limits farther than they should. Yesterday after going to the bathroom after midnight I noticed there was a leak, it was already very wet around the seat so I tried to close the valve that feeds the tank and boom! the whole thing exploded and started flooding half of my apartment. My brother that leaves a few blocks away told me that he had a spare valve and he came to tell me how to change it. What a save. Drying everything was the worse of it.

After so many months using Hugo I got to say, I love it, it’s been fun and I have learned a lot BUT… yes. BUT. It’s not as easy to use as it was “promised” or at least how easy I thought it was gonna be. Themes are just OK, most of them are very basic and with incomplete or broken features. A big chunk of them are ports from basic themes from other site builders. Everything has had to be tweaked and customized in most themes I’ve used so far so that they function semi decently but I’m still far from being an expert in web dev and HUGO to really feel as free as I want to. I wish more dedicated designers and developers joined the community so we could get a “just blog and it does most for you” experience.

Every couple of months I get this impulse and desire to add ActivityPub functionality to at least this microblog but every time I start researching on the appropriate procedures I just get a headache because of how complicated it gets to do it on a “serverless” static website. I wish someone finds a way to make this more accesible. I love some of the sites I’ve seen that have it enabled and the promise of updating the site with an app like Indigenous sounds really attractive. For now I have the notion that a lot of ActivityPub functionalities are hostile to sites not running on a proper server. Change my mind.

Games have to be fair in order for them to be games. Cross play changes games in an unfair and uncompetitive way. When some of the players have software systems to compensate for their lack of input accuracy this gives special treatment to them. I don’t support cross play in competitive aim based shooters. It turns eSports into accesible entertainment on the expense of a big part of the player population.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the internet. I’ve spent most of my life in it but sometimes, almost always lately, I wish we would come back to the pre social networks era. These services are so frictionless that it makes most people say stupid shit and fight without any pre cognition of their permanently on the record declarations. The requirement of deploying your own website was a good entry barrier and we still had a lot of dumb, fun, crazy sites. It just wasn’t a privilege accessible to most.

One thing I’ve noticed along the years of learning & witnessing the development of web technologies is that their own creators barely use the things they build for the public knowing the monetization incentives they build into their platforms. Where’s @Jack pro-activity on Twitter? Where’s Mark constant engagement on Facebook? Why does Andy Rubin just left Android to Google’s oversight. They all seem to end up abandoning their creations when they become ad tracking networks with addictive features because most of the engagement turns out to come from outrage, cry-tizism and that ends the party for everyone. I wish that in the next decade web technologies turn into services of value instead of low quality engagement systems.

I also might just deprecate the micro blog altogether and just use the blog for everything. I’ve been trying out the “Fediverse” services and what most of them share as a common flaw is the lack of creativity in their platform freedoms.

They are just copies of their bigger non “free” services. The promise of freedom gets really limited by the same format of the last decade. There’s no incentive for people to use these open services and protocols because there aren’t offering anything different than that of those they are already running away from.

Today I finally found a solution for Apex not running nicely in my system. I had really good fps but if felt stutter-y and it dropped frames that you could notice .

I limited the game’s fps with RTSS and voila! Back to being able to see where the tracers go when I’m shooting and all the movement around me. We were smacking the servers with practically only top 3’s.

I’m glad I could finally enjoy some matches in the game without feeling so frustrated with the game’s performance.
